Job Description:
As a Histotechnologist, you’ll play a key role in our CAP-accredited laboratory, which processes over 1.3 million tests annually for the central Maine community.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Preparing and processing tissue specimens: logging, embedding, cutting, staining, and cover slipping for Pathologist review.
- Assisting Pathologists with gross specimen examinations and frozen sections.
- Performing routine, special, and immunohistochemical stains.
- Maintaining equipment, departmental logs, quality control records, and safety standards.
- Supporting the cytology department with GYN specimen processing.
What We’re Looking For
- 2 years of Histology experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
- Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) preferred at hire (required within 2 years).
- Familiarity with CAP accreditation standards and modern lab workflows
- A demonstrated ability to work independently and mentor less experienced staff.
