What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Agent position at MainStay Suites?
This position is for part-time in a Front Desk role, specifically 2nd shift (3 pm - 11 pm) on Saturday and Sunday, with the potential for some flexibility on this from week to week. Optional additional hours are available, especially when honoring each other's requests for time off or covering for coworkers.
I. SUMMARY STATEMENT
Assures highest possible level of visitor and guest satisfaction by providing awesome customer service. Our hotel is an extended stay style property, and people staying here should feel like it is a second home while they're away from their primary one.
Responsible for checking guests into and out of the hotel as well as answering phone calls and customer inquiries.
II. ORGANIZATION
Completes checklist each shift and turns it into the GM of the hotel.
III. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Guest Service
- Maintains a positive, professional demeanor when interacting with guests.
- Answers phone to assist guests with reservations and other needs.
- Responsible for addressing escalated customer relations issues.
- Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and services.
- Must respond to and follow-up on all guest requests to ensure customers are satisfied with the hotel’s services and accommodations.
- Responsible for positively representing and promoting the property.
- Ensures systems and procedures are in place and followed for guest safety and security.
Technical & Clerical
- Checks guests in and out of the hotel in an accurate and expeditious manner.
- Maintains cash drawer and handles all guest payments appropriately.
- Learns and understands our property management system, Choice Advantage.
- Processes front desk documentation, including checklists, properly.
Other Duties
- Ensures the lobby and front desk area is clean, organized, and visually appealing, as well as keeping the desk stocked with supplies.
- Report all maintenance, security, or safety concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Folds and stores all laundry, distributing them evenly between housekeeping closets. (Night Audit)
IV. SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
- Prior front desk experience preferred but NOT required.
- Able to type at least 45 words per minute is ideal. Take a test online to test yourself!
- Excellent critical and independent thinking skills.
- Adept at multitasking and staying organized in a busy environment.
- Great customer service and communication skills.
- Trustworthy and has good judgement.
- May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
