Description
Teaching Chef (Full-Time, Temporary 3-Months)
MAKE Projects is an employment social enterprise. MAKE stands for Merging Agriculture Kitchens and Employment, and our mission is to empower refugee and immigrant women and youth with the job readiness skills and confidence to achieve their dreams. We achieve our mission through operating a job training café and urban farm where our participants (trainees) gain work and communication experience in a real-world setting. Throughout their 12-week program, trainees work with employment case managers to develop the job readiness skills to secure a permanent post-MAKE job.
As a social enterprise organization, our work is both doubly rewarding and doubly hard. Our organization and operations are funded by both grants and earned revenue. Therefore, our entire team is accountable to both social outcomes (i.e., participant job readiness skills gained, post-MAKE job placement success) as well as operating our business lines within industry standards of quality and profitability.
