We're seeking a detail-oriented and quality-focused Purchasing Manager to join our fast-paced team in Indianapolis. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring our purchasing decisions align with the highest standards of quality, ensuring the best products are sourced for our customers.
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for researching and evaluating suppliers, negotiating pricing, purchasing components, supplies and chemicals, creating and sending purchase orders, and monitoring purchases through the delivery process.

Duties/Responsibilities:
General Duties:
- Research and evaluate suppliers, products needed, negotiate pricing, create, and send purchase orders and monitor purchases through delivery process.
- Maintain and file purchase orders of goods ordered and received.
- Work with vendors to order materials needed and negotiate the best price and lead times.
- Prepare and manage purchase orders for chemicals and components, ensuring timely processing and follow-up.
- Maintain and update the product information in the system including components, chemicals, descriptions, and pricing.
- Maintain and monitor warehouse stock agreements with suppliers.
- Work with vendors on stability testing.
- Request component samples from suppliers for testing.
- Communicate with vendor on any quality issues and resolutions.
- Participate in R & D activities upon request of President or R&D Executive Manager.
- Initiate and/or update standard operating procedures in conjunction with other team members to assure that all current procedures of the Purchasing and Project Specialist role are fully documented.
- Work with Management on sustainable packaging.
- Coordinate timing of releases of shared components.
- Assist in establishing minimum order levels to obtain best pricing at (price breaks).
- Continue sourcing for current components to help cost savings, and bring recommendations to the team when possible.
- Receive and retain samples from vendors for new projects or component changes, including any testing.
- Communicate and work closely with Senior Product Development Manager on sourcing for new projects and providing necessary regulatory documents for packaging.
- Attend New Project Meetings, provide updates and recommendations on components.
- Attend all meetings with customers regarding new projects as requested by Senior Product Development Manager.
- Maintain spreadsheets as needed, including, but not limited to tracking components being held at suppliers and component sourcing quotes.
- Utilize software, including NetSuite, to run, review, and maintain updates on open Purchase Orders.
- Email all price increases and/or decreases received from vendors to Senior Product Development Manager.
- Assist Malibu C division with sourcing as needed.
- Purchase needed items for all onsite events.

Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred manufacturing and/or project management experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Repetitive hand and finger movements while operating a computer keyboard and mouse.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
- Occasionally lift and carry light objects (up to 25 lbs.).
Work Environment:
- Work is performed indoors within the office setting.
- Overhead fluorescent lighting.
