Your internship will include impactful hands-on work within a county department, networking, professional development, and building lasting connections with other interns, mentors, and Manatee County team members.
- Program Dates: The 2024 internship program will begin on May 19th, 2025, and end on August 8th, 2025.
- Internship Hours: Up to 27 hours/week (maximum), Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; may vary by department.
- Pay Range: $14 per hour up to $20 per hour (graduate/ master’s student), based on the number of credit hours earned.
The intern will assist the us in creating, updating, and submitting a plan to integrate multiple existing buildings onto the same core key system. The plan will be converted into Excel file or similar, stating which facilities to integrate, breakdown of door types, and potential overall cost. This newly updated data will be incorporated into interior asset management software and the organization's current database catalog.
Department Responsibilities:
- performs building maintenance and operation activities, ensuring that facilities are functioning properly daily so that County services can be provided
- the primary contact for user departments regarding their daily needs
- perform plumbing, AC, and electrical maintenance of County buildings, facilities, systems, equipment, and grounds
- workers are spread throughout the county residing at various locations and covering approximately 2.1 million square feet
- technical support team members provide maintenance, repair, and installation services for generators, audio-video systems, and other facility technologies
Internship Program Responsibilities:
- A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.
- Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.

About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable)
- Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
- Currently seeking a diploma or degree through an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational program, or within 12 months after graduation.
