Your internship will include impactful hands-on work within a county department, networking, professional development, and building lasting connections with other interns, mentors, and Manatee County team members.
- Program Dates: The 2024 internship program will begin on May 19th, 2025, and end on August 8th, 2025.
- Internship Hours: Up to 27 hours/week (maximum), Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; may vary by department.
- Pay Range: $14 per hour up to $20 per hour (graduate/ master’s student), based on the number of credit hours earned.
Manatee County funds the Community-Based Care Program, which helps provide medical care for those who cannot afford traditional medical insurance. The program offers patients a continuum of care focused on prevention and early intervention rather than expensive emergency department and inpatient care. To improve the program and address any gaps, the program’s effectiveness and reach needs to be evaluated. The intern will be expected to create evaluation tools and conduct data analysis, highlighting any gaps in the continuum. The intern will also be expected to research similar programs, locally and/or nationally, for comparison purposes.
Department Responsibilities:
- Evaluation of County’s indigent healthcare program
- Research other indigent healthcare programs and report on similarities and differences
- Creation of evaluation tools to assess program’s effectiveness and reach
- Data analysis and visualization to show program effectiveness and reach
- Report and recommendation
Internship Program Responsibilities:
- A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.
- Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.

About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree, or equivalent (if applicable)
- Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
- Currently seeking a diploma or degree through an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational program, or within 12 months after graduation.
