Outreach messages on municipal storm drain inlets are a useful and practical way to discouraging dumping and misuse of storm drains as waste disposal. Targeted messaging helps to reduce contaminants such as pet waste and household products from entering into the municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) and supports the important outreach component of the County’s NPDES-MS4 permit. This project will support the County in that goal. Part 1 of the project will leverage the County’s GIS database to identify inlets draining to waterbodies identified as not meeting water quality standards to ensure targeted messaging. Part 2 will involve placement and installation of pre-made labels to the identified priority inlets.
