Your internship will include impactful hands-on work within a county department, networking, professional development, and building lasting connections with other interns, mentors, and Manatee County team members.
- Program Dates: The 2025 internship program will begin on May 19th, 2025, and end on August 8th, 2025.
- Internship Hours: Up to 27 hours/week (maximum), Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; may vary by department.
- Pay Range: $14 per hour up to $20 per hour (graduate/ master’s student), based on the number of credit hours earned.
This role will be supporting our ADA compliance and inclusion efforts. The County, and Sports and Leisure Services, are looking to add more inclusive recreational programming and facility amenities. This person will help research what other counties are doing, what compliancy issues we need to address in our parks and facilities, as well as be part of the Manatee County ADA focus group.
Department Responsibilities:
- Benchmark other counties programs and inclusion initiatives and programming being offered.
- Research if these programs are vendor programs or managed in house by staff.
- Research any full time or part time roles that focus on compliance and programming
- Be an active member of the County ADA focus group
- Review our parks, facilities, and programs and offer suggestions on enhancements to make them more accessible for our community members that need an accommodation, including but not limited mobility, sensory, and age.
Internship Program Responsibilities:
- A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.
- Participate in all organized intern events and trainings.
- High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable)
- Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
- Currently seeking a diploma or degree through an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational program, or within 12 months after graduation.
