Administrative Assistant
Manhattan Public Library is seeking a friendly team member to assist library management in all aspects of the operation. In addition to maintaining a welcoming and efficient office, the Administrative Assistant must be able to successfully handle a large volume of customer service matters. The work requires a high level of confidentiality, discretion, self-direction, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Duties include:
- Preparing documents, data entry, record keeping, preparing and distributing mail, and scheduling room reservations.
- Supporting the library director with daily communications and record keeping for governing boards and library support groups.
- Providing support for other library managers, volunteer boards, partners and staff members.
- Planning workflow to meet prescribed deadlines and project goals.
- Assisting with inventory, scanning, and preparing weekly bank deposits.
The education, experience, and skills needed to be successful in this positon are:
- High school education or equivalent
- Minimum of one year experience in an office environment including a multi-line phone system
- One year customer service experience
- One year working with computer software programs
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, writing, proofreading, and editing
