About the Organization : Our client, a renowned higher education institution in the San Diego area, is seeking a talented Technical Business Analyst to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of CA community colleges, technical expertise, and an understanding of business system analysis processes. This position plays a critical role in improving and optimizing the institution’s systems to enhance overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities :
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, and system users to ensure technical solutions meet business requirements.
Analyze and document business processes, workflows, and system specifications for higher education environments, particularly within California community colleges.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improving systems and processes.
Perform technical system analysis, ensuring the integration and optimization of systems in accordance with institutional needs.
Support basic Business Systems Analyst (BSA) duties including requirement gathering, system testing, and implementation.
Develop functional specifications, user stories, and use cases to facilitate technical and business needs alignment.
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving system issues, ensuring that solutions are both timely and effective.
Conduct system and user acceptance testing to ensure the quality and usability of implemented solutions.
Prepare reports, dashboards, and other documentation for tracking project progress and performance metrics.
Stay current with industry best practices, technology trends, and changes within the California community college system.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong knowledge of the operations, systems, and regulations within California Community Colleges.
Proven experience in business systems analysis and working with technical teams to implement solutions.
Familiarity with software and systems commonly used in higher education institutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex business needs and translate them into actionable technical solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Experience with technical tools, business analysis techniques, and project management practices.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Previous experience in an educational or public-sector setting is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, student information systems (SIS), and / or learning management systems (LMS).
Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) or related technical certifications.
Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques.
