Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely data entry, review and settlement of all bulk milk receipts, production entry, and accounts payable processing.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Daily data entry and validation of all raw milk receipts into the MDVA Accounting System, including variance review and error correction.
  • Daily entry, review and settlements of purchased cream and other milk fluids with internal and external vendors.
  • Balance and settle incoming milk receipts with vendors and internal customers as needed.
  • Review, enter and balance all Finished Production into the MDVA Accounting System, partnering with the operations team on variance and issue resolution.
  • Perform receptionist duties, ordering office supplies, forwarding calls and greeting outside parties.
  • Assist with accounts payable data entry, validation, purchase order matching and receiving, while ensuring proper procedures are followed. Reconcile credit card statement monthly.
  • Research, track, and resolve accounting problems as needed.
  • Serve as backup to order entry and shipping as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

A minimum of an associate’s degree in accounting / business or related field; or 2 years working in an accounting, inventory, or bookkeeping role.

Skills And Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly accurate and efficient data entry skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and desire to learn.
  • Must be a team player, willing to jump in where needed to get the job done.
  • Must have a good understanding of the Windows Operating Environment, Microsoft Office Environment, specifically Excel. This position requires use and understanding of basic excel formulas and commands such as SUM, filters and basic excel formatting.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Previous Accounts Payable Experience a plus.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors and other employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages and volume. Ability to convert units of measures. Ability to present data utilizing an electronic spreadsheet.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
