Job Description
Title: Computer Support Specialist
EDUCATION: Associate’s Degree (or higher) or Applicable Certifications preferred
EXPERIENCE: Prefer one year in a computer related environment. Experience in an educational setting is preferred.
WORK YEAR: Full Time/Full Year
REPORTS TO: Director of Educational Technology
OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:
The Computer Support Specialist will work collaboratively with other technicians, the technology instructional specialist, building principals and Director of Educational Technology to support teachers and ensure that technology is working properly. This includes maintaining the technology inventory, assessing needs of the inventory, and supporting staff, students, and families in their technology needs.
The Computer Support Specialist must be a self-starter, collaborative, team-oriented, detail-oriented, and possess strong customer-service skills. Additionally, the IT Support Specialist must be an effective written and verbal communicator, and possess effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Must possess the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and multi-task in a fast moving environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide effective support service to staff, students, and families.
Monitor and maintain computer and peripheral equipment.
Maintain a current and complete inventory of all technology equipment and software.
Install upgrades and back-up user profiles.
Manage all software, web-based licenses, and applications.
Create user accounts and manage access control.
Provide direct customer service to staff in need.
Identify equipment problems and initiate corrective action.
Update staff lists and information on the website.
Maintain records of repair requests and corrective action taken.
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
Networking Experience
Windows and Mac OS Knowledge (Client Operating Systems)
Familiarity with Windows, Mac OS, Google Suite for Education

Experience working in a school environment

Be able to handle frequent interruptions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 25lbs.
Be physically and emotionally capable of carrying-out responsibilities and duties in a busy, digital environment. This position requires sustained physical activity such as sitting at a desk for several hours a day, hand/wrist movement as in writing or using a computer keyboard/mouse. Other activities may include moderate to frequent exertion in body movements such as reaching, bending and twisting.
Vision Requirements include the ability to read routine and complex documents and to use a computer.
