Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time, One-Year-Only, Business Faculty. This position will play a critical role in the Bachelor of Business Administration – Management degree program. The successful candidate will be teaching mainly the quantitative classes in the program.

This position is scheduled to start August 2025 and end May 2026. The position may be renewed from August 2026 to May 2027, depending on available funding.

This Faculty Member

  • Instructs a diverse population of students in a variety of business courses, including quantitative courses, in accordance with the SCC Business School’s collaborative learning-centered philosophy. Courses will include GBS220 - Quantitative Methods in Business, GBS221 - Business Statistics, and BUS305 - Business Analytics, among others according to the needs of the Business School.
  • May teach in online, in-person [day and evening], live online, and hybrid formats.
  • Uses multiple methods of instruction, assessments, and instructional technologies to engage students and promote student success.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to students and contributes to the academic life of students and Business School initiatives.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs.

Essential Functions

  • Instruction: Supervises and instructs students of various ages and diverse backgrounds in classroom, hybrid, online, and adaptive settings, supports student success, evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and assesses student performance, maintains grades, and develops course materials. Designs and develops syllabi and instructional materials for a variety of modalities and course lengths. This includes utilizing various teaching methods to promote effective learning in students with diverse abilities, levels of academic preparation, ages, and socio-economic/cultural backgrounds.
  • Student Support: Maintains office hours to assist and advise students, with the purpose of answering questions that students may have over the subject matters being taught and/or providing information to students planning to major in a business discipline.
  • Departmental Engagement: Participates in departmental projects and initiatives including, but not limited to, FOI events, recruitment, success, and retention activities, development of curriculum and new courses, program review, student assessment, and others.
  • Professional Growth: Engages in professional growth opportunities to enhance subject knowledge and develop pedagogical skills. Models the business profession’s high standards through their commitment to excellence, innovation, integrity, and teamwork. Keeps their knowledge up-to-date to assure the students within the business programs are learning the newest skills expected of graduates.
  • Student Success: Assists the departmental efforts to launch and maintain Bachelor of Business Administration – Management, commits to helping students succeed, and works together with other SCC employees on student recruitment initiatives and community outreach efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

You need a Master’s Degree or higher in one of the following fields:

Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics

The preceding list of sub disciplines within the field of Business is intended as representative and does not limit acceptance of similar titles by the Business Instructional Council.

OR

Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate-level credits in these prefixes/subjects: Management

Desired Qualifications

  • Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience teaching quantitative business courses at the undergraduate level
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with instructional technologies, statistical software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI), and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, or D2L)
  • Instructional Flexibility: Demonstrated ability to teach in multiple delivery formats, including online, in-person, hybrid, and live online, in both shortened and full-semester formats
  • Commitment to Student Success: Proven ability to engage diverse student populations and promote student learning and retention through innovative teaching methods and assessment strategies
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration in a collegial environment
  • Educational Background: Bachelor degree in business
  • Curriculum & Assessment Development: Experience in curriculum design, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives in higher education

Special Working Conditions

  • Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
  • May be required to travel or be assigned to other MCCCD locations.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
  • This position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work depending on business needs to best serve the students, department, and college.
  • External candidates hired into a short-term benefits-eligible position are ineligible for rehire into a non-benefits-eligible position or to continue working in a non-benefits-eligible position for a period of six months once their assignment ends.
  • Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily.
  • May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings or weekends.
