If so, consider becoming part of the Office of Public Defense Services by becoming our newest Administrative Supervisor!
In this role, you will supervise one of the office units. You will also be heavily involved in process improvement efforts, legal analysis, and administrative work, providing support to the Director and office management.
About Us
The Maricopa County Office of Public Defense Services assigns and oversees private attorneys contracted to represent indigent individuals in criminal, delinquency, dependency, mental health, and probate matters. We provide administrative support, financial oversight, integrated technology solutions, and HR support to all five of Maricopa County's Indigent Representation offices (Public Defender, Legal Defender, Legal Advocate, Public Advocate, and Contract Counsel) in an effort to ensure indigent individuals have their fundamental rights protected and receive quality legal representation.

We Require
Five years of administrative experience
High school diploma or GED
A combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for theminimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Legal Assistant experience
Prior lead or supervisory experience
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Job Contributions
Supervises assigned staff; hires, trains, schedules, mentors, evaluates performance and handles disciplinary matters
Analyzes and quantifies a variety of processes and procedures; implements procedural changes to improve overall effectiveness and productivity of assigned staff and office as a whole
Gathers information and analyzes operational and administrative problems; proposes and implements solutions
Reviews, assesses, and approves/responds to Request of Fund submittals
Provides legal administrative support to department management; composes/prepares, proofs, and edits a variety of legal and administrative correspondence
Compiles and analyzes data; prepares statistics, monthly reports, and summary reports for management
Researches and compiles information for special projects
Answers inquiries regarding interpretation of policies and procedures
Assists in the identification of strategic issues, goals, objectives and performance measures for department
Working Conditions
Position works in close physical proximity with others and involves frequent and constant practice of accuracy, decision-making, concentration, vigilance, and teamwork
Interruptions, time pressure, high volumes of work, handling multiple or complicated tasks, unscheduled tasks, and frequently changing tasks may be a common occurrence
