General Summary:
Responsible for creating and implementing engaging and educational activities for school-age children during before/afterschool hours. This role involves developing age-appropriate lesson plans, fostering a positive and safe environment, and promoting the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Oversee classroom management practices and provide coaching to school-age worker.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with educational standards and program goals.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies and materials to engage students and foster a love of learning.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and respect.
• Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Address and resolve behavioral issues in a timely and constructive manner.
• Assess students’ academic and developmental progress through observations and other evaluation methods.
• Provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding progress and areas for improvement.
• Identify students who may need additional support and work with program coordinators and parents to develop intervention plans.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication and involvement in program activities.
• Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in team meetings to share ideas and strategies for improving student outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards, including health and safety guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, incident reports, and student progress notes.
• Provide information to supervisor in completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and other essential documents and correspondence as required by funding sources and Marillac St. Vincent Family Services.
• Monitor and ensure information is entered into program data management system in a timely manner.
• Participate in meetings at the organization and/or team level, supervision, coaching, training, and professional development activities.
Education and Experiences:
• Associate degree in Education, Youth Development, Recreation Management, or related field from an accredited college or university with experience working in family services in a nonprofit social-services setting required. Bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with school-age children in an educational or afterschool setting preferred.
