Job Summary

A results-driven individual is needed to lead production, quality control, distribution, logistics, and drive continuous improvement across all areas of the facility.

This role is responsible for overseeing production, process optimization, team leadership, and adherence to operational policies and procedures. With a strong focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and Process deliverables, while fostering a culture of accountability and growth through our Operation Excellence, Lean and Financial Initiatives.

The monument division produces granite memorials and markers, custom granite signage, and engraved brick pavers, and engages in wholesale monument sales.


Astral Industries Overview

Astral Industries is a premier manufacturer of high-quality steel burial caskets, offering a diverse range of products including metal, solid wood, engineered wood, veneer wood, and cremation caskets.

The division is unique in its ability to purchase raw steel coils and produce finished powder-coated caskets within a single facility.

Astral's manufacturing capabilities include electro-mechanical assembly, fabrication, sheet metal forming, stamping, structural welding, and automated powder coating.

The company utilizes advanced processes such as a 6-stage pre-treatment for protective coatings and fully automated powder coat lines capable of handling large parts.

Position Overview

A results-driven individual is needed to lead production, quality control, distribution, logistics, and drive continuous improvement across all areas of the facility.

This role is responsible for overseeing production, process optimization, team leadership, and adherence to operational policies and procedures. With a strong focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and Process deliverables, while fostering a culture of accountability and growth through our Operation Excellence, Lean and Financial Initiatives.


Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee all plant functions including production, scheduling, distribution, maintenance and personnel management.
  • Ensure facility KPI's are set, managed and achieved, at the intervals of daily, weekly, monthly and annually.
  • Ensure financial targets are achieved, based on the monthly and annual budget set for the facility.
  • Lead capital projects, kaizens, and other lean events to driving operational excellence and continuous improvement, specifically related to safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Implement and support Lean manufacturing concepts aligned with company objectives within the facility.
  • Manage inventory to achieve working capital and inventory targets set for the facility.
  • Promote awareness of customer and quality requirements throughout the facility, ensuring compliance with an ISO comparable quality system.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, OSHA and DOT standards are met within the facility and during the delivery of manufactured goods.
  • Ability to analyze data, make data driven decisions that provide beneficial results to the facility and the company.
  • Ensure collaboration between departments within the facility, and as necessary with other departments of the company, to achieve company objectives.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with metal forming, welding, powder coating, assembly, and/or similar manufacturing processes is preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Six Sigma, Lean and/or Operational Excellence certification/training.
  • Good interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees, and managers.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • Must have a solid understanding of MS Office software.
