Graduate Student Position Description
The Office of Intercultural Affairs / Student Affairs incorporates a student-centered approach that strives to connect, engage, and inspire Marshall University students through a creative array of progressive educational programs and experiences that will promote academic success, building of a diverse community of respect, learning and inclusion. Intercultural Affairs / Student Affairs is designed to create a campus culture and learning experiences to prepare our students to live, learn and work, as successfully as possible in our world / global society.
Eligible applicants must be "degree seeking" students enrolled as full time students and meet all requirements stipulated by the university to prospectively receive a graduate assistantship. Preference is given to first year graduate students, however, this is not an absolute requirement. Applicants with relevant and strong diversity, multicultural and / or study / living abroad experiences will be given priority. Students must have communication skills, writing skills, project organizational skills, and computer technical skills. Computer skills must include Excel, power point, and skills necessary to develop attractive flyers and program announcements.
Graduate Students will assist in general office duties and assist the V.P. and Office Manager in a multitude of related project planning, operations, outcome assessments, web site work, marketing / promotions, project budgeting, and student problem solving. The GA hired will work with departmental assessment projects and divisional reports, assist in providing support services to students, addressing inquiries and directing them to appropriate resources and assist with special events during evenings and weekends as needed.

- Experience with knowledge and / or experience with student orgs. student leadership, and event programming.
- Competent communication & interpersonal skills.
