Marshall University’s Department of Natural Resources and Earth Sciences (College of Science) seeks a qualified and dedicated individual to fill the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Natural Resources and Recreation Management. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in both teaching and research. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to the academic growth and development of students while engaging in impactful research related to natural resources, recreation, tourism, sustainability, human dimensions of the environment, outdoor/environmental education, adventure programming, or other closely related discipline. Courses may include:Introduction to Natural Resources and Recreation ManagementResearch Evaluation and Assessment o Visitor Behavior in NRRMRecreational Resources Planning & DesignPark & Recreation EcologyRecreation Operation and AdministrationAdditional courses in the candidate’s field of expertiseThe ability to teach inter-disciplinary courses in GIS/Remote sensing would be beneficialCreate and maintain a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that fosters critical thinking and active student engagement.Advise students on curricular and career matters as assigned by the Department Chair or College Dean.ResearchDevelop a rigorous, externally funded research program, with a focus on mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.Publish scholarly work and present at regional, national, and international meetings.ServiceParticipate in University, College, or Department committees in consultation with the Department Chair.Participate in outreach and recruitment activities that connect the university with local and regional organizations, agencies, and communities.Contribute to the College’s support of interdisciplinary programs of study by working collaboratively with faculty and students from other units/departments.
