Join the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) as we transform energy for the State of Maryland. Through the Strategic Energy Investment Fund, the Maryland Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard, Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Act, Inflation Reduction Act and the Climate Solutions Now Act, you will have an opportunity to work on the cutting edge of shaping and implementing Maryland’s environmental and clean energy policies. The mission of the MEA is to promote clean, affordable, reliable energy and energy-related greenhouse gas emission reductions to benefit Marylanders in a just and equitable manner. MEA will advance impactful energy policies and programs to help achieve Maryland’s clean energy and greenhouse gas reduction goals.


Position Responsibilities: 

Legislative Interns are assigned a portfolio of legislation and a supervising Policy Manager and will typically provide associate level support to: 

  • track legislation throughout the legislative process; 
  • support the development of agency education materials; 
  • draft committee testimony
  • represent the agency at outreach events interacting with the general public; 
  • monitor the Maryland General Assembly Website for updates;
  • summarize bills and possible impacts on MEA and the state;
  • monitor floor sessions, standing committees, and voting sessions;
  • manage a calendar of events, committee meetings, and other events.


Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Reproduction and delivery of documents;
  • Scheduling;
  • Other duties as assigned.


The legislative session runs January 8 through April 7, 2025. Qualified applicants will preferably be available for onsite work in Annapolis, MD, and work 3 days per week, typically Tuesday through Thursday. Compensation is commensurate with educational level and experience.
