Job Description:
Primary Role: The Sanitation/Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the sanitation and quality control functions within the facility. This role ensures compliance with company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and regulatory requirements. The manager will lead both the sanitation and quality control teams, maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient production environment while ensuring product quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the sanitation program, including the master cleaning schedule and weekly checklists.
- Be responsible for the chemical control program, including the chemical inventory, SDS sheets, and chemical register.
- Ensure compliance with FDA standards and oversee plant Food Safety program
- Train new sanitation and quality control employees to ensure understanding and compliance with sanitation and quality procedures.
- Oversee daily cleaning and sanitation processes to maximize efficiency and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Ensure a lean manufacturing environment that achieves results in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Develop and recommend improvements to equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions.
- Communicate maintenance needs to the Maintenance Manager and ensure timely resolution of any issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and participate in housekeeping programs.
- Oversee the inventory of cleaning materials, PPE, and chemicals, ensuring availability and compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure all departmental records are accurate, complete, and legible.
- Ensure compliance with lockout/tag out procedures and other safety protocols.
- Ensure all equipment is re-assembled correctly and ready for production.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety issues to the Quality Control or Maintenance departments promptly.
- Oversee the effective operation of all sanitation equipment and materials with proper understanding of chemical use.
- Meet daily sanitation and quality control needs within the allocated time.
- Conduct safety training for all sanitation procedures, materials (chemicals), and equipment.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes and standard operating procedures to ensure product quality.
- Conduct regular quality audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain and update quality control documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and compliance records.
- Work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in sanitation and quality processes.
Pay Scale:
- $60,000-$90,000 - depending on qualifications and experience.
Work Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- Some Overtime/Weekends: and On Call
- 1st shift: 6:30 am – 3:30 pm

Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Quality Management, or related field.
- 5 - 7 years of experience in sanitation and quality control, in a food manufacturing environment or related industry, with a strong background in chemical sanitation.
- Previous experience leading a sanitation or quality control team.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, FDA, EPA, and MIOSHA practices Required.
- Strong knowledge of sanitation equipment, chemical use, and environmental safety.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, bending, twisting, lifting, and pulling repetitively.
- Flexibility in scheduling to cover weekends, holidays, and a 7-day-a-week operation.
- Highly motivated, able to work independently, and demonstrate a strong desire for continuous improvement.
