Lead and support one or more teams in an IPD environment to assess scope, develop schedule and budget and resources needs for manufacturing and facilities project execution to meet customer and internal requirements. Confirm requirements and scope, provide oversight and direction of relevant development activities, including conceptual design, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, and any required assembly, test, delivery and field support issues which may be involved. Mentor team members in project management skills, tools and critical project needs. Develop and support collaborative working relationships, understand and communicate team priorities, assure appropriate staffing and resources are committed, and prepare and deliver project status reports for management review at appropriate intervals. Responsible for effective team leadership resulting in successful conclusion of the project(s), on time and on cost.
Role & Responsibility:
- Develop and utilize a structured benchmarking process for optimal analysis and results
- Requires close and effective collaboration with multi-functional groups, internal and external
- Lead Peer Reviews, FMEA’s EH&S Reviews related to new product development for focus and re-focus
- Focus the team on identifying and meeting customer requirements and expectations
- Ensure customer commitments are met with quality products/results
- Assure clear understanding of customers’ needs to make certain those needs are met
- Create an environment where people are involved, included, motivated and valued, with a sense of project/program/product ownership
- Open to differing or opposing points of view. Adjust position when a better idea or approach is recognized
Education & Experience:
- BA/BS with 2-7 years of experience
- MA/MS with 2-5 years of experience
- PhD with 1-4 years of experience
- PMP Certification helpful
- Experience with capital equipment procurement and installation preferred
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Background in distributed generation/renewable energy helpful, but not required
- Manage project metrics and collection/assessment of project data
Knowledge & Skill:
- Prior project/program management/leadership experience, including responsibility for schedule and budget
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to set and direct priorities
- Strong technical and engineering-focused skills and successes
- Relevant computer skills, including Microsoft Project and Office
- Familiarity with electromechanical production equipment preferred
- Proficiency in varied manufacturing concepts such as VSM,3P, Lean, SPC, JIT, MRP, Kanban, TQM, PM, etc.
