Mason Private Locating (MPL) is growing, and we’re looking to add a Robotic Camera & Vacuum Excavation Associate Technician to our team in Indianapolis, IN. This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a company that values training, growth, and teamwork.
As an Associate Technician, you will receive training to operate vacuum excavation trucks and robotic sewer inspection cameras. You’ll assist in locating privately owned underground utilities on both residential and commercial properties. Most work is performed outdoors throughout the Midwest.
This is a full-time, hourly position with opportunities for advancement to Lead Technician roles based on performance and experience.

Utility Locator Requirements
- Assist with and learn to operate robotic camera inspection equipment for utility locating.
- Support vacuum excavation operations to safely expose underground utilities.
- Work as part of a field crew on residential, commercial, and industrial job sites.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain equipment in good working condition.
- Accurately document job site details and work performed.
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn a skilled trade
- Ability to walk on all types of terrain (grass, gravel, dirt and roadways).
- Ability to work year-round in all outside weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- May be required to work day, evening or night hours, overtime, weekends
- Follow all safety practices and procedures
- Strong communication with teammates and clients
- Previous experience in construction, utilities, or fieldwork is a plus, but not required—we provide full training!
