What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellfleet Shell Recycling Collector position at Massachusetts Oyster Project?
Job Summary
The Shell Recycling Collector is responsible for assisting in implementing the Outer Cape Shell Recycling Program. The program is based in Wellfleet and is operated by the Wellfleet Oyster Alliance in partnership with Mass Oyster. Duties involve utilizing your own vehicle to collect shells from participating restaurants, depositing the shell at the Wellfleet Transfer Station, and providing clean containers to restaurants. Collecting data and regular communication with the team is required to effectively run a smooth program and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
Essential Functions
- Pick up containers of shell from participating restaurants 3 ( /-) mornings/week
- Deposit shells at the Wellfleet Transfer Station, deliver empty containers, clean as necessary
- Quantify and record the amount of shell collected daily
- Promote and represent the Shell Recycling program with restaurants and the greater Wellfleet Community.
Job Requirements
- Schedule is Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Hours are early morning with some flexibility
- Be positive, enthusiastic, and a proficient communicator
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs pounds repeatedly throughout one shift
- Must have reliable transportation that can transport multiple 5-gallon buckets at one time. A pick-up truck or similar is required.
