Mission: At the Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM), we have a small team passionate about growing advanced manufacturing in the state from innovation through production. We drive growth in this sector by focusing on three key areas: innovation, workforce development, and supporting small and medium manufacturers. Our team is searching for someone with the same enthusiasm for helping our manufacturers thrive as we have. This person should be passionate about finding and supporting Massachusetts innovators who are developing the next generation of hardtech and manufacturing technologies in Massachusetts that will impact both the state and national levels.
This role will lead CAM’s manufacturing technology and innovation efforts. It is a highly dynamic and cross-cutting position requiring internal collaboration with the CAM team and other MassTech divisions and external engagement with a wide range of stakeholders across academia, startups, industry, government, and more. The position will identify the needs of the ecosystem and drive improvement to or creation of programs or initiatives that benefit our manufacturing innovation ecosystems and the Commonwealth. In addition, the position helps drive the connectedness of the ecosystem and the competitiveness of the advanced manufacturing supply chain. Finally, this person will be expected to develop technical know-how and expertise in a variety of production and processing technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
** PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES CANDIDATES TO BE ABLE TO WORK IN WESTBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS AT LEAST TWO DAYS PER WEEK. THIS IS NOT A FULL-TIME REMOTE POSITION. **
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- 7 years in technology or manufacturing fields at a leading-edge company or institute
- Experience with multiple stages of scaling manufacturing of technologies, from R&D and prototyping stages through commercialization and production
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to quickly come up to speed on new technologies
- Strong understanding of the start-up/new venture community, including incubators, entrepreneur support organizations, accelerators, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects at once
- Preferred familiarity with federal grant systems and ability to lead the proposal process
- Strong communication skills, especially in presenting technical information to non-technical audience in a compelling and concise way
- Public speaking skills and ability to present to various approval bodies, including MassTech’s board and the Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel both in and out of the state of Massachusetts with locations often not accessible by public transportation.
