HR Internship Summary

MassHousing is seeking a Human Resources Intern to work within our Human Resources team. The HR team is dedicated to supporting the team members of MassHousing while upholding our business mission and values. The Human Resources Intern will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience across all aspects of the employee lifecycle – talent attraction, new hire onboarding, benefits, employee engagement, HRIS, payroll, learning and development and employee relations.

The Human Resources Intern can expect to work on the following types of tasks:

• Assist with job postings, resume reviews, and interview question development
• Manage HR file clean-up and organization
• Process documentation across all areas of HR
• Help with wellness initiatives communications and programs
• HRIS data entry and data migration to/from files and systems
• Answer general employee questions and help as needed with special projects

A unique component of this internship experience is the opportunity to be part of a wider cohort of interns across MassHousing. All interns will meet weekly to engage in team-building activities and share their experiences. This unique setup allows our interns to form meaningful connections, collaborate effectively, and understand the holistic workings of MassHousing. These cohort meetings also provide a setting for interns to interact with our executive leadership, offering insights into strategic decision-making and organizational culture.

This is a paid three-month internship starting in May 2025. Pay rate is $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, commensurate with prior experience. The internship maintains a Monday through Friday schedule requiring a commitment of 35 hours per week.

MassHousing offers an Alternative Work Schedule (AWS)-hybrid work model however not all positions are suitable for remote work. Internships will be expected to work on site at least two days a week. During the onboarding and training period interns will be expected to be on site as directed.

Job Requirements

The Human Resources intern will:

• Major in Human Resources, Business Administration/Management, Organizational Behavior, or related fields; preference to a rising junior or senior
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office software, especially in Excel
• Have high attention to detail and organization
