POSITION OVERVIEW
Matador is looking for a bold, creative Content Marketing and Social Media Manager with a knack for turbo-charged growth, inspired content creation, and authentic community management. We need an impactful content production artist and social media growth-hacker who infuses creativity into to every element of strategy implementation. As Content Marketing and Social Media Manager, you’ll be a critical voice and steward of the Matador brand, dedicated to enhancing visibility and inspiring adventurous travel.
Based in our Boulder, CO headquarters, you’ll collaborate closely with our in-house content team, graphic designers, marketing director, and more to engage our community and grow the Matador brand. We’re a team of top performers and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment—we’re seeking an A-player who’s just as comfortable with big-picture campaigns as they are with grassroots initiatives. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
The Content Marketing and Social Media Manager will report directly to the Marketing Director. This position requires specific skills and talents in social media growth, content generation, management, and engagement. It also requires strong copywriting skills that will be utilized across many facets of the company’s three brands (Matador, TinyTents, and MicroSend).
We are seeking a Content Marketing and Social Media Manager who isn’t afraid to take risks, try new things, and can build a brand that people get behind. The primary focus will be on the Matador brand, but the auxiliary brands will also be managed by this position.
Social Media Community Management Growth: The Content Marketing and Social Media Manager will be responsible for managing and growing the company’s organic social media accounts and maximizing their impact for each brand. This includes collaborating with ambassadors, influencers, and partner brands to boost visibility and promote products, as well as responding to direct messages and moderating comments to build authentic community connections. A growth-hacker mentality is greatly appreciated in this position. Key responsibilities also include analyzing performance metrics, reporting on results, and managing platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and any others relevant to Matador’s audience. This position combines high-level strategic planning with a hands-on approach to community engagement.
Content Generation: This role will create engaging, on-brand content to captivate audiences and elevate Matador’s visibility. Responsibilities include producing high-quality content—such as photos, videos, and graphics—that resonates with the target audience and aligns with Matador’s voice. Collaboration with internal creative teams and external ambassador or influencer resources is essential to leverage diverse assets effectively. This role also involves monitoring social media trends to ensure the content remains fresh, relevant, and competitive. The manager will maintain a consistent posting schedule, optimize content for maximum impact, and align all efforts with the company’s broader marketing goals. Creativity, precision, and a passion for storytelling are critical to success in this role.
Ambassador/Influencer Team Management: The ideal candidate will have experience managing and growing influencer programs, as well as overseeing contract management. You’ll be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and maintaining relationships with ambassadors and influencers who align with Matador’s brand values. This role involves negotiating and managing contracts, setting clear goals, monitoring performance, managing content submission, and fostering authentic partnerships that drive engagement and brand awareness. You'll need strong communication skills, the ability to identify influencers who resonate with our audience, and a knack for building lasting connections that amplify the Matador message.
Copywriting: This role requires that will be utilized throughout the company. Copywriting projects include regular social media content, ambassador/influencer program copy, and additional projects as assigned. Applicants should have very strong creative writing and storytelling skills, as well as a good understanding of what engages customers and drives sales. Copywriting is often cross-departmental and requires a strong ability to collaborate and incorporate constructive feedback to achieve desired results. Other Responsibilities: At Matador, we’re a small team, so everyone wears multiple hats. In addition to the primary responsibilities outlined above, you may contribute to marketing promotional brainstorming, generate marketing reports, support sales needs, approve product reviews, manage affiliate networks and pro programs, and build and maintain partnerships. You may also help with product sample order submissions, event support, research projects, customer surveys, and more. In our dynamic environment, you’ll have the chance to tackle a variety of tasks as they come up, ensuring no two days are the same.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, with 5 years of relevant marketing experience.
- Proven experience working closely with senior management, with a broad understanding of marketing, digital strategy, competitive analysis, and opportunity assessment.
- Preferred background in the travel, outdoor, retail, or related industry.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
