Purchasing Agent
The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for managing the quoting and procurement process of materials, ensuring everything runs efficiently. They will work closely with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate purchases. The ideal candidate should have experience in procurement within metal manufacturing, possess strong organizational skills, and be open to learning and adapting as needed.
Requirements of the Purchasing Agent
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in metal manufacturing or a related industry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with internal teams and vendors
- Ability to analyze quotes, contracts, and vendor agreements to ensure the best pricing and terms
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in orders and delivery schedules
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes
- Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain principles
Responsibilities of the Purchasing Agent
- Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to oversee the operations of the purchasing department, including monitoring inventory levels
- Conduct vendor research and selection to improve profitability, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency
- Manage the process of requesting quotes (RFQs), creating purchase orders, tracking shipping schedules, and maintaining accurate purchase records
- Maintain and organize records of purchase orders, contracts, receipts, and transactions for filing and future reference
- Oversee on-site vendor equipment and programs, such as AIRGAS and MSC
- Work closely with suppliers and vendors to review cost proposals, and collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to negotiate prices and contracts
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to compare deliveries against purchase orders and identify any discrepancies
Full-Time, DIRECT HIRE
Pay is $60,000 - $65,000 annually, based on experience
