Specific Responsibilities Will Include, But Not Be Limited To
- Proactively manage the primary student information system (SIS) and other school and organization-based systems.
- Perform updates to systems and communicate any updates and changes to all impacted users.
- Develop/coordinate/monitor regular synchronization of information between applications using APIs, scripts, or imports and exports.
- Create queries to extract information and generate a variety of report options for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties, including external vendors.
- Spearhead system modification and design and develop custom forms, reports, or exports using various tools based on user requirements and goals.
- Manage system user accounts and security to ensure data integrity for the purpose of regulating access to the systems and ensuring confidentiality of student records.
- Document and train end users in the use of the student systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve all faculty, staff, student, and parent system-related issues.
- Ensure the integrity of the school’s systems through regular review, verification, and data cleanup to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and document standards, procedures and systems processes relating to data input and database management.
- Meet with various stakeholders to exchange information concerning student information system software projects, data, implementation, and routine maintenance and upgrades.
- Oversee the research, selection, and implementation of any new database modules and/or systems to facilitate best practices, data integrity, and successful data management practices
- Work closely with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) to ensure timely, accurate, and complete data feeds and to troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Remain knowledgeable about technology trends in schools and provide suggested improvements and advancements to our systems.
- Collaborate with the PMAT team in supporting the data and technical needs of the school community.
- Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief of Policy, Performance, and Advocacy.
- Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred. Major in, or significant coursework in, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field highly preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience managing and supporting Student Information Systems (SIS) or similar database management systems (PowerSchool highly preferred), including:
- Experience with database management, integrations, report generation, query development, and data synchronization.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting technical issues, providing end-user support, and resolving system malfunctions.
- Familiarity with data security standards and practices, including access control and user management.
- Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL) and SIS platforms.
- Strong skills in writing complex queries and generating customized reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document processes, create training materials, and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system-related issues quickly and efficiently.
- Experience in managing projects, particularly related to system implementation, upgrades, or database module selection.
- A proactive interest in staying informed about trends in educational technology and system enhancements.
- Experience working with incarcerated or at-risk youth (preferred)
- Possess an unrelenting belief that all students can achieve and succeed
