Overview
As a Production Operator, you will set-up, adjust and operate several production machine tools where tooling, setup detail and operating procedures are standardized and obvious- or operate and maintain setups on special purpose machines where operations may involve several progressive machining sequences.
Responsibilities
The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to included other duties and responsibilities, as deemed necessary.
- Selects and aligns dies in press according to specifications.
- Positions work piece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die.
- Starts press and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
- Regulates air pressure and oil pressure.
- Inspects work pieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors.
- Generally close tolerance work where dimensional and finish requirements are not difficult to maintain due to nature of tooling and machine setups.
- Work usually repetitive and subject to process inspection.
- May be required to read part drawings and use adjustable, direct reading and fixed gauges to check work.
- Packages parts in appropriate containers.
- Cleans and lubricates machines.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Related experience is preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.
- Must be comfortable with basic math.
- Willingness to be trained.
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
- Ability to understand and follow at MEC safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
