  • The Position
  • Maze Therapeutics is seeking a
  • Senior Director, Clinical Sciences
  • to play a pivotal role in translating groundbreaking genetic discoveries into life-changing treatments. As a key member of our Clinical Sciences team, you will drive the clinical development of innovative therapies, including our small molecule targeting APOL1, a major genetic contributor to chronic kidney disease.Beyond APOL1, Maze is advancing a pipeline of precision medicines for renal, cardiac, and metabolic diseases, including promising treatments for chronic kidney disease and phenylketonuria. Your leadership will help shape these programs, turning scientific insights into tangible clinical advancements that have the potential to transform lives.This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will partner with cross-functional teams to design, execute, and interpret clinical studies, ensuring our programs are built on scientific rigor and patient impact.
  • The Impact You’ll Have
  • Lead clinical trial strategy and execution
  • for the APOL1 program and additional early-stage clinical assets
  • Design and oversee key clinical
  • trials, including first-in-human and proof-of-concept studies, in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Author clinical-regulatory documents
  • such as protocols, amendments, informed consent forms, study reports, and statistical analysis plans (SAPs).
  • Engage with key stakeholders
  • including investigators,scientific thought leaders, and patient advocacy groups to gather insights, refine strategies and build awareness and enthusiasm for Maze’s pipeline.
  • Partner with Clinical Development Operations
  • to identify, select, and build strong relationships with investigators, study sites, and CROs
  • Develop and integrate
  • timelines and budgets
  • for company-wide objectives by working closely with project management, CMC, nonclinical development, and regulatory affairs.
  • Represent Maze at industry conferences, regulatory meetings, and advisory boards

  • What We’re Looking For
  • PhD / MD / PharmD with 5 years of drug development industry experience. Prior drug development experience in nephrology or cardiometabolic diseases is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the clinical trial design, conduct , and data interpretation, particularly for Phase 2 trials.
  • Strong leadership experience to drive cross-functional study team and align clinical strategies with corporate objectives.
  • Ability to foster relationships with investigators, site study staff, patient advocacy groups, and external partners to support the clinical programs.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills, ensuring high-quality execution of clinical programs
  • A positive and adaptable mindset with high ethical standards and a passion for advancing groundbreaking therapies.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally for regulatory discussions, vendor visits, and industry conferences.

Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.Maze performs position-based compensation benchmarking to industry market data to ensure we pay competitive wages. Determination of starting salary will depend upon a variety of job-related factors, which may include professional experience, skills, and job location.
