About the Position

The Seminary seeks a Vice President for Institutional Advancement, an innovative and dynamic leader who will partner with incoming President, Dr. Maisha I. Handy, staff, alumni / ae, and the broader community to advance its mission and core values. This position reports directly to Dr. Handy and offers an extraordinary opportunity to shape the Seminarys philanthropic strategy, build partnerships, and lead impactful fundraising efforts in support of McCormicks inclusive programs.
Position Overview
The Vice President for Institutional Advancement will :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive advancement strategy aligned with McCormicks mission and core values.
- Work collaboratively with the Vice President for Community Engagement and Alumni Relations to cultivate and steward relationships with alumni / ae, donors, and institutional partners to strengthen engagement and philanthropy.
- Build and oversee a small Advancement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation.
- Prepare for a future campaign effort while managing the current annual fund program, which aims to grow annually from $600,000 to $1 million in unrestricted giving.
- Collaborate with the President, Board of Trustees, and faculty to build a culture of philanthropy while identifying and pursuing major gifts, planned giving opportunities, and long-term fundraising goals.
- Lead efforts to promote McCormicks seven core values, emphasizing its commitment to transformational learning, diversity, and justice.
- Provide regular updates to the President and Board of Trustees, ensuring transparency and accountability in advancement efforts.

Salary and Benefits
McCormick Theological Seminary offers a competitive salary range of $145,000 to $155,000 and a
comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and generous vacation and professional development opportunities.
