Job Overview
As a Bookkeeper at McElroy Comprehensive Accounting, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the financial operations of our clients. You will manage accounts, reconcile statements, process payroll, and ensure compliance with Ohio state and local tax regulations. This position requires proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (QBD) and QuickBooks Online (QBO), with additional knowledge in other software being a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) to record, store, and analyze financial transactions
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and adjusting journal entries
- Prepare and maintain financial reports for management review
- Process payroll using QuickBooks Payroll, Gusto, or ADP, and maintain payroll records
- Ensure compliance with Ohio state and local tax laws, calculate and file sales tax
- Implement double-entry bookkeeping to accurately track financial data
- Assist with tax preparation and filing as needed
- Apply accounting principles to ensure regulatory compliance
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (QBD) and QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping
- Experience with account reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll processing
- Knowledge of Ohio state and local tax regulations is essential
- Familiarity with Xero and FreshBooks is a plus but not required
- Bookkeeping and/or QuickBooks certification is a plus
- Gusto or ADP payroll certification is a plus
- Candidates without QuickBooks, bookkeeping, or payroll experience will not be considered
