Workweek
Up to 20 hours per week | Schedule will vary weekly. Will be dependent on student availability and MCC event schedule requesting MCC mascots appearance.
Position Summary
As the Roary Mascot at MCC, you will represent the college’s mission and values in a positive and engaging manner. Wearing the mascot costume, you will appear at pre-scheduled events on campus and at off-campus locations. Your role is to bring enthusiasm, energy, and school spirit to various events, helping to build school pride and connect with students, staff, and the community.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Attend pre-scheduled and off-campus events wearing the “Roary” mascot, including events coordinated by the Student Resource Center, Admissions and Recruitment, Office of Marketing and Public Relations, and any other events where there will be a large student or community exposure
- Interact in character with MCC students and community members
- Create a lively and memorable experience with participants at all scheduled MCC programs
- Pose for photographs and video
- Communicate creatively through non-verbal gestures
- Provide high quality customer service as an ambassador of the college by upholding MCC mission and values
- Responsible and accountable for arriving on time and committing to the duration of the event
- Possess a creative and humorous personality while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Take proper care and keep up with all the parts of the mascot costume, as well as changing in and out of the attire and ensuring its cleanliness as best as possible
Required Qualifications
- Must be an MCC student and be enrolled in 6 credit hours at MCC
- Must hold a minimum of a 2.0 GPA (If you’re a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived)
- Be able to wear the costume for an extended period of time
- Be comfortable wearing a masked costume
- Be willing to attend various campus and community events including some nights and weekends
