Legal Assistant – Litigation Department
Position Overview:McIntyre Elder Law is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our Litigation Department. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with attorneys, co-directors, and paralegals to support a variety of litigation-related tasks. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a passion for providing outstanding support in a fast-paced environment. Travel to our Charlotte and Hendersonville offices is required to assist with hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage litigation cases, including service tracking, organizing case files, preparing case summaries, and maintaining case calendars.
- Assist with drafting basic memorandums, correspondence, reports, and other legal documents under attorney supervision.
- File legal documents with courts, both electronically and in person, as needed.
- Handle client communications, including scheduling meetings, coordinating document signings, and providing in-office support for litigation-related matters.
- Support trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and managing discovery documents.
- Assist with mailing documents and tracking their progress through the mail to ensure timely delivery.
- Perform general administrative duties, such as scanning documents, data entry, and file management using Google Drive.
- Organize and maintain litigation spreadsheets and to-do lists, track deadlines, and monitor case progress.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of an associate degree or paralegal certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a legal or administrative role.
Skills:
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- Hours: Monday through Friday (excluding some holidays) 8 AM – 5 PM, with potential for extended hours during busy periods.
- Location: McIntyre Elder Law Shelby Office, with weekly travel to our Charlotte and Hendersonville locations.
- Reports to: Litigation Co-Directors and Managing Litigation Attorneys.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
