Help Build our Team!! McNeilus Steel, Inc. is excited to be currently accepting applications for a new team member to join our Maintenance department. This position works Monday-Friday with flexible day time hours; typically a 40 hour work week, with OT as needed.
Anticipated work start date: December 1, 2024

Nature Of Work
Maintenance workers provide routine maintenance and repair for machines, mechanical equipment, buildings, electrical systems and numerous equipment and structures throughout the warehouse and productions areas. Maintenance workers are responsible for troubleshooting and fixing any faults or damages to both interior and exterior structures and equipment. Initially maintenance workers will work on and maintain overhead cranes, plasma table, saw, and forklifts; among other basic building maintenance.
Working Conditions
Maintenance workers carry out numerous tasks in a variety of locations throughout the day. Work may be conducted both indoors and outdoors depending upon the duties requested.
Maintenance workers often work a standard 40-hour week, but may work overtime if required. Some evening and weekend shifts may be common during expansion activities and during downtime of vital mechanical operations.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Fix or paint roofs, windows, doors, floors, and other parts of building structures
- Inspect and diagnose maintenance problems and determine best way to correct them
- Inspect and repair any material storage racks, building structures, staging and loading devices, equipment protection devices, tarps, etc.
- Inspect and repair any problems with the coil lines, equipment protection devices, etc.
- Perform routine inspections of machines and equipment to ensure proper operation and to notice any potential malfunctions of deteriorations
- Perform inspections on drives, motors, belts, fluid levels, filter conditions and other standard maintenance areas on maintenance and mechanical equipment
- Assist with electrical installation or repair projects as requested
- Responsible for managing preventative maintenance for coil lines
- Fabricate steel products for in-house use when needed
- Must operate crane and forklift skillfully and safely
- Learn, understand, and comply with OSHA requirements, company safety rules, and health policies at all times, working according to good safety practices as posted, instructed, and discussed
- Use all safety devices, equipment, and PPE as directed and provided for protection
- Performs other duties as instructed and assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in fluent English
- Ability to work well as a team member or with little supervision
- Forklift and crane certified
- Basic knowledge and understanding of computer operations and applications
- Be able to interact and work well with people
- Ability to logically and effectively resolve problems as they arise
- Must have mechanical background and be very familiar with hydraulics, electrical systems (high & low voltage) motors, gearing, bearings, etc.
