JOB DESCRIPTION: Sales Associate
PURPOSE: Sales Associates will support and work closely with the local Territory Consultant and his/her team to service, educate and sell surgeons and their staff on the clinical benefits and proper use of Medartis implants and instruments (LCT). The Sales Associate will partner closely with their assigned Territory Consultant to quickly learn the medical device industry and in short order contribute to the growth of that business in the assigned territory. Successful candidates should be prepared to undergo an extensive training process while working day-to-day in support of our ongoing sales efforts.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend surgeries in which Medartis products are used, ensuring all products are available for surgeon use in each case and provide instruction to surgeons regarding product use and functionality.
- Educate and inform doctors, nurses, and appropriate staff personnel as to the proper use and maintenance of Medartis products, product functionality and updates, changes to product portfolio, and educational programs.
- Participate in a rigorous training program for which it is expected to be five to seven days outside of assigned territory in either a classroom environment or observing workflow and case coverage.
- Following extensive product training, tailor Medartis’ promotional message based upon knowledge of the customer, advise on appropriate product selection, answer customer questions about product functionality and distinguish Medartis products from competitor products.
- Remain in compliance with all required certifications / tests to participate in a hospital, ASC, outpatient setting while meeting the Medical Education and Training expectations while performing their sales duties with Medartis. Certifications and testing, understanding and adherence to include, but, not limited to: (e.g. RepTracks), OSHA, HIPPA, Compliance all while performing their duties in a professional manner expected.
- Assist in the implementation of sales plans and effective marketing strategies to competitively position Medartis.
- Partner with ASM on inventory management and building of proper inventory levels and sets to meet customer needs.
- Provide coordination and logistical support in properly ordering, transporting, setting up and reassembling surgical instrument sets inside sterile processing departments at hospitals and surgery Centers (ASCs).
- Assist and partner with the ASM in acquiring and processing Customer Purchase Orders (POs) for proper invoicing
- Participate in and attend sales meetings and professional association meetings outside of regular business hours.
- Perform field calls for the account and assigned territory, including “on-call” and operating room consultation.
SKILL AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- BS/BA required in a relevant field preferred.
- 2 years demonstrated successful sales experience, preferably in the medical device industry.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems required for Sr. Sales Associate.
- A minimum of a basic understanding of the Medical Device industry to include regulatory compliance issues and adherence to these guidelines.
- Adherence to compliance and the principles of responsibility by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements, and Company’s policies and procedures.
- This position requires extensive travel within territory with the possibility of weekend work and/or limited overnight travel. Majority of time will be spent in surgeon office and/or hospital setting and includes coverage of cases in operating room (OR), coordination of equipment required for case coverage, and logistics related to hospital billing and replenishment
