Position Summary
MediaJustice is seeking a full time Senior Development Associate to support the development strategy and implementation to raise the resources needed for MJ during a period of growth for the team and organization. The Senior Development Associate’s primary function will be to provide day-to-day administrative support for fundraising activities and own the creation of effective and consistent donor communications. This position reports to the Development Director, and is a member of a 3-person team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a development role and/or communications role where they supported activities such as grant proposal development and submission, maintaining donor records, preparing newsletters and other administrative activities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ownership of a steady stream of development communications that keeps donors connected and engaged to the programmatic work advanced by MediaJustice by creating quality content, and delivering timely donor acknowledgments.
- Support the Development Director in prospecting by conducting research using fundraising databases, news searches, and other tools and assisting in creating tailored donor engagement strategies
- Keep the Development Team’s information accurate and usable by owning consistent, complete, and accurate data in our Salesforce CRM, and other platforms; working with Finance to ensure smooth flow of information for finance, accounting, and planning purposes. Ensuring our databases are accurate, seamless, efficient, and usable, including inputting data, and providing suggestions for improvements.
- Organizing effective meetings internally, with potential and existing funders, and for briefings and special events, ensuring materials are of a high-quality and distributed in a timely manner, follow-up is prompt, and relevant data is recorded in our CRM
- Provide administrative and logistics support for development related in-person and virtual activities like meetings, fundraisers, briefings and donor meetings; as well as other Development Team projects as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Keep Development material organized in GSuites, Salesforce, and other spaces
- Assist the board Development committee as needed
Must Haves
- 3 years of professional experience in a communications and/or development related role, preferably for a racial justice or political organization.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as superb attention to detail, with consistent production of timely, error-free work.
- Superior design and content development skills with an eye for visually compelling documents.
- Proficiency with GSuite and experience working with donor CRM software (Salesforce experience preferred).
- Ability to maintain the highest level of discretion with respect to confidential information.

SALARY & BENEFITS/ COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY
MediaJustice practices a negotiation-free compensation policy and has set salaries based on the level in the organization and years of experience, with salaries benchmarked to be in the top 25% for the three most expensive U.S. cities. The salary level for this role is that of a Senior Associate, and the range is $72,710.00-$78,922.00 annually, based on the experience tier you land in.
In addition to the salary, total compensation includes the following benefits:
- A fully remote organization with work flexibility to meet your schedule
- 3 weeks of vacation, 3.5 weeks of office closures, and 13 paid holidays
- Monthly $165 wellness and $125 home office, and $75 cell phone stipends
- Medical, Vision, and Dental premiums are covered at 100% for staff, and 70% for their family.
