SUMMARY: Performs various types of product packing and shipping in accordance with established procedures and/or commercial standards; receives and stocks incoming equipment, materials, and supplies and prepares shipments.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Prepares shipments by assembling, packing, protecting, and labeling containers
- Determines method of shipment by examining items to be shipped, destination, route, rate, and time of shipment (domestically & internationally)
- Examine contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, bills of lading and other records to verify accuracy of incoming and out-going shipments
- Prepare material for shipping ensuring freight is properly packed, labeled and staged in designated areas with relevant documentation. Record shipment data such as weight, space availability, damages or discrepancies
- Reports damages and shortages of material and/or documents to specifications
- Route material to designated areas in the warehouse using work devices, such as forklift, hand jack, hi-lo, packaging equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of warehouse supplies, orders as needed
- Operate forklift; loading and offloading trucks as needed
- Complete cycle count process in accordance with company regulations
- Enter and produce inventory and shipping reports/log and use of computer, scanning devices
- Other duties assigned by management
This position is very hands-on, and interacts with various departments. The Shipping & Receiving Lead position is typically in the warehouse / production area, and “on-their feet" about 80% of the shift.
EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a warehouse (shipping / receiving via UPS, FedEx, DHL) is required
- Forklift certification and a pallet jack experience is required
- A High School Diploma or GED is desired, advanced technical or trade school certification is a plus
- Detail orientated, punctual with solid time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the understanding and emphasis on Customer Service
- Flexible in a fast paced environment
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and best manufacturing practices desired
