The Role
We are seeking a creative and engaging Visual Arts Teacher to bring the visual arts—drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and more—into our school community. The ideal candidate will have experience developing engaging art lessons that cultivate students’ artistic skills and creative expression. Through thoughtful instruction and hands-on projects, you will cultivate a space where students feel confident experimenting, problem-solving, and expressing themselves through art. As a member of the Explore Team, the Visual Arts Teacher will be committed to fostering academic excellence and student character development through visual creativity and expression.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging art lessons that reflect a variety of artistic media and styles
- Introduce students to foundational art techniques and concepts
- Foster a supportive and well-managed classroom environment where students are encouraged to express themselves and develop confidence in their artistic abilities. Students should always be engaged in an activity, not sitting idly waiting for a turn
- Plan and curate school-wide art showcases or installations that highlight student creativity and connect the school community to student learning
- Assess student work thoughtfully, offering constructive feedback and tracking artistic growth and skill development
- Maintain an organized art space, including the management of materials, tools, and student work
- Actively participate in school events, team meetings, and professional development, contributing to a positive and mission-aligned school culture

Educational Background & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required, with preference given to Education, Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field of study
- Visual arts background (painting, drawing, sculpture, digital media, etc.)
- 2 years of successful prior experience working with students is preferred
- Experience curating student artwork or leading community art projects is a plus
