Who We Are
Meeting Street Schools is a groundbreaking network of four South Carolina schools with a mission of “empowering children with the excellent, life-changing education they deserve.” We were founded in 2008 to give hard-working students the opportunity to receive an education that will transform their lives. We are ambitious in our commitment to families, and we expect the same in return. We value exceptional teaching, life-changing student achievement, innovation and a growth mindset, and gratitude and responsibility.
Who We're Looking For
We exist to change the status quo in education, and we seek individuals who strongly align with our mission. We look for those who refuse to compromise and see education as the gateway to opportunity. We hold high expectations for ourselves and our students. Our team strives to meet a bar of excellence, and we constantly challenge ourselves to get better and evolve our approach. High performers and leaders are encouraged to apply.
The Role
We are seeking a creative and engaging Visual Arts Teacher to bring the visual arts—drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and more—into our school community. The ideal candidate will have experience developing engaging art lessons that cultivate students’ artistic skills and creative expression. • Design and deliver engaging art lessons that reflect a variety of artistic media and styles
  • Introduce students to foundational art techniques and concepts
  • Foster a supportive and well-managed classroom environment where students are encouraged to express themselves and develop confidence in their artistic abilities. Students should always be engaged in an activity, not sitting idly waiting for a turn
  • Plan and curate school-wide art showcases or installations that highlight student creativity and connect the school community to student learning
  • Assess student work thoughtfully, offering constructive feedback and tracking artistic growth and skill development
  • Maintain an organized art space, including the management of materials, tools, and student work
  • Actively participate in school events, team meetings, and professional development, contributing to a positive and mission-aligned school culture

  • A commitment to the
    mission and core values
of Meeting Street Schools and an unwavering belief that all students can and will succeed
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • High level of personal organization and planning
  • Team player: maturity, humility, strong work ethic, follow-through, high EQ, willingness to respond positively to feedback, and a “whatever it takes” attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with preference given to Education, Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field of study
  • Visual arts background (painting, drawing, sculpture, digital media, etc.)
  • 2 years of successful prior experience working with students is preferred
  • Experience curating student artwork or leading community art projects is a plus
