Job Description
The Accounting Clerk will update financial records, prepare reports, and reconcile bank statements. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Clerk will provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department. In addition, the Accounting Clerk will also run accounting software programs (e.g., QBO) to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers, and receipts. In addition, the ideal candidate will be familiar with accounting principles and procedures and have a knack for numbers to ensure that the company's daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
· Accurately prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
· Prepare bank deposits, general ledger posting, and statements
· Daily enter key data of financial transactions in the database
· Accounts Payable; includes processing invoices, following up with vendors, and resolving discrepancies promptly
· Accounts Receivable, including processing payments, producing statements of accounts, collections on overdue accounts, and account reconciliation when necessary
· Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
· Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function, including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
· Perform account receivable functions, including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
Requirements and Qualifications
· High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related or relevant certification is a plus
· Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable Clerk
· Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
· A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
· Hands-on experience and proficiency with spreadsheets
· Well-organized and effective written and oral communicative
Additional Requirements:
- Must be 21 years old
- Must pass a comprehensive background check as mandated by Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
· Must have a valid driver's license or reliable transportation
Working Conditions:
While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
· Must sit for extended periods using a computer while maintaining focus.
