What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Charge Bookkeeper position at Mendocino Music Festival?
OVERVIEW
Mendocino Music Festival is looking to hire a professional, permanent, part-time, full-charge
bookkeeper to join our team.
HOURS AND LOCATION
Our office is located in downtown Mendocino. The hours are semi-flexible ranging from 8-30
hours per week with more possible during the pre-season. The festival season is two weeks
long every July.
TOP DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Maintain financial statements in accordance with GAAP and accrual accounting standards
Responsible for receivable and payable accounts
Prepare monthly financial statements for the Treasurer to present at Board meetings
Prepare and track payroll; keeping employee personnel records up-to-date
Responsible for all State and Federal tax filings and reports
Interface with CPA firm to prepare tax filings for September year-end close
Reconcile bank accounts monthly; review and categorize deposits and expenses
Ensure California and federal wage standards are met

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Five or more years experience as a full-charge bookkeeper with references
Bachelor’s degree desired but will consider credentialed bookkeeper certification
Certifications a plus (i.e., Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers)
Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, and QuickBooks
Experience with Sage 50 Accounting 2023 is a plus but not mandatory
Experience with Human Resources and Worker’s Compensation laws and statutes
Familiar with the financial handling of independent contractors and employees
WAGE
Wage negotiable with commensurate experience
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 30 per week
