The Peace and Justice Practice Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating activities that articulate the vision of a holistic, biblical, Anabaptist vision of peace and justice ministry to staff, board, conferences, and churches of MCC Central States. It includes responsibilities capacity building on among regional staff and board, accompanying and resourcing constituent congregations and conferences, and overseeing projects and partnerships in the areas of peace and justice, which includes work in anti-oppression, nonviolence, restorative justice, dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery, and climate justice.

- Bachelors degree in Peace and Justice, Intercultural Studies, Ministry/Theology, or related field
- 1-3 years relevant experience in education, peace and justice programming, climate or creation care, ministry, or other related experience.
- Experience with and commitment to working with and relating to diverse congregations
- Skillsets in facilitation and educational resource creation, especially focused on raising awareness and building capacity on peace and justice issues
- Commitment to and experience with relating to young adults and/or emerging generations in support of peace building goals
- Training in anti-oppression and facilitation skills
- Basic computer competencies (ability to proficiently use Word, Outlook/email, Zoom), willingness to learn other systems within MCC
- Master’s degree in Peace and Justice, Intercultural Studies, Ministry/Theology, or related field.
- Awareness of the range of Anabaptist denominations and communities that comprises MCC’s global constituency
- Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) QA certification
- Spanish language proficiency. List additional preferred education, certifications, experience, or skills

Regional Capacity Building – 30%

- Facilitate implementation and follow-up of MCC CS region-wide commitment to 100% staff and board completion anti-racism training and participation in the Intercultural Development Inventory.
- Coordinate anti-racism training for all Central States staff and the regional board.
- Provide IDI feedback sessions for MCC IDI network; no more than 4 per month
- Resource and occasionally participate in CS Dismantling Oppression Team’s initiatives to support anti-racism and intercultural competency development with CS board
- Resource and educate staff and board on issues of peace and justice with a specific reference to anti-oppression (e.g., anti-racism, anti-sexism, and other forms of systemic oppression), intercultural competency, dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery, climate change/environmental justice, and nonviolence.
- Collaborate with MCC Central States staff (e.g., Workroom Supervisor, Warehouse Coordinator, Thrift Shop Coordinator, Community Engagement Coordinator, etc.) to support volunteer learning opportunities in the areas of peace and justice
- Building and managing accompaniment efforts with constituent congregations with specific focus in the areas of peace and justice, with emphasis on churches of color
- Develop a plan for a regional scope of peace and justice education and practice across the Central States region
- Coordinate and facilitate education and other connections for congregational learning
- Develop trainings for supporting trainers and volunteers
- Build awareness and connection of constituent communities and congregations to MCC Peace & Justice resources and curriculums (e.g., Peaceful Practices, Fear Not, A Loaded Conversation) through promotion, resourcing, and, on occasion, facilitation
- Collaborate with MCC CS Young Adult Program Coordinator to support new opportunities for P & J learning and connection among Young Adults in CS region
- Occasionally collaborate on the development new MCC resources and/or curriculum
- Oversee and serve as the primary point of contact for partner accompaniment and collaborative projects in the area of Peace & Justice practice and learning (up to 4 project-based partnerships annually)
- Collaborate on planning, implementation, and support for MCC-implemented projects, including specifically Peace Clubs, Learning Tours, and other collaborative projects in the CS region
- Participate in MCC U.S./regional program Networks (Nonviolence, Racial Justice, and Climate Justice)
- Participate in regular MCC Central States all-staff meetings (2x month), planning retreat (1 week per year), and department-specific meetings (1-2x month)
- Collaborate with colleagues through maintaining a work calendar, communicating about absences or schedule changes, and timely response to emails/messages, etc.
- Represent region on occasional MCC working groups as requested (no more than 2 extra-programmatic groups per year)
- Participate in Dismantling Oppression Team on a rotating basis
- Represent MCC at 1 regional conference annually; and in addition, 1 national conference every other year
- Develop and follow through on annual intercultural development and anti-oppression skillset building plan for personal and professional development
- If disbursed from the MCC Central States’ North Newton Office, additional travel will occasionally be required
- Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasionally light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Base salary: $59,269.63. Starting salary may be adjusted up to $65,855.15 based on previous experience.
Medical, dental and vision, 23 days paid vacation, sick time and 10 holidays/year. Life insurance provided, as well as long and short term disability coverage. The retirement plan, with MCC contribution of 7%, begins after six months of employment.
Eligible to work in states where MCC is a registered employer in the CS region (Kansas, Texas, Colorado, Montana, Minnesota)
