What are the responsibilities and job description for the Authorization Specialist position at Merced Cancer Center?
We are searching for a reliable and dedicated Bilingual Authorization Specialist for a temporary position with the possibility to move into part-time/full-time role for our growing Oncology office.
Responsibilities:
- Submit clinical documentation for authorization of various high cost pharmaceuticals, radiopharmaceuticals, and off-label chemotherapy regimens
- Collaborate as part of an inter-disciplinary team related to the previously mentioned processes
- Serve as a clinical resource to the Revenue Cycle & Billing Compliance team
- Collaborate with the Prior Authorization Manager to review and appeal rejected claims in a timely fashion
- Assist in the Revenue Integrity Specialist with prior authorization denials
- Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care.
- Uses, protects, and discloses protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
- Anticipates the physicians needs and carries out orders
- Checks for patients' arrival status and escorts patients to exam rooms
- Obtains, records, and reports vital signs and information for Physician
- Able to properly code ICD 10
- Answers, directs, and follows up on incoming calls
- Distributes incoming correspondence (faxes, consult notes, test results, etc.)
- Assists practice manager with office tasks related to patient care
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of Auth experience in Oncology preferred
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to work in high level and fast paced environment
- Great customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organized & detail oriented
- Bilingual preferred
