Job Purpose
The Business Development Associate (BDA) is an integral member of the client-facing team and acts as the primary liaison with the client, client team, and other business partners. The BDA is responsible for supporting the end-to-end credit management process for the assigned producers and assisting the client-facing team with business development, marketing, fulfillment, and implementation support. This is an exciting opportunity for a high-energy, articulate, sales / financial professional who wants to learn the SBA Lending Profession and become a high-performing SBA BDO (Business Development Officer).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports sales efforts. by calling on clients, prospects, referral sources, and centers-of-influence to develop new business sales, expand client base, and create a network of prospects from center of influence clients. With a focus on SBA 7a lending, SBA Express, and USDA Lending.
- Assist in facilitating credit originations, approvals, documentation, and fee collections. Responsibilities also include monitoring credit compliance, documentation, collateral, and past-due exceptions, ensuring credit quality and data integrity following the SBA SOP guidelines.
- Assist in analyzing business financial data and submits complete credit packages for underwriting. Completes necessary site inspections.
- Responsible for ensuring clients and prospects are satisfied with their experience. Responsible for the effective implementation of the products and services and ensure that on-going service expectations are met.
- Assist in obtaining updated financial information on the existing loan portfolio; documents and maintains risk-based discussions with borrowers.
- Manages their own pipeline of active and viable leads, including determining which prospects to call on, and the priority and scheduling of calls.
- Demonstrate a satisfactory understanding of and adherence to Bank operational policies and applicable compliance regulations as they relate to the specific job duties assigned.
- Demonstrate a satisfactory understanding of your duties and responsibilities as it relates to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML), Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations (OFAC). This includes participating in any required training and promptly complying with all reporting requirements.
- Demonstrate a satisfactory understanding of and adherence to EEO/AA policy; promote a working environment free of harassment of any type.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to meet the needs of the organization.
Qualifications
Position Training Requirements
- Employee will enroll in and complete Shatterbox – 12-month SBA Training program. This will require day-to-day work in an online training platform system.
- Work completed in the Shatterbox program will be monitored and tested. • Employees must be willing to sign the associated tuition repayment agreement.
- The Shatterbox training and repayment agreement does not constitute an employment contract or guarantee continued employment.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
Preferred Work Experience
- 1 Years Preferred in Financial Role
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 years of experience in commercial lending or credit
- Knowledge of SBA lending process
- Prior experience working in commercial lending
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
- Strong organizational skills

Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The majority of the work is sedentary with some travel.
