Position Details:
- Job Title: Web Press Roll Tender
- Department: Offset
- Location: Rochester Tech Park, 2332 Innovation Way, Bldg 4, Rochester, NY 14624 **Must have reliable transportation**
- Schedule: Full-time, C Shift (11:00p - 7:00a, Sun-Thurs)
- Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour. Final compensation is based on experience.
- Plus, receive an additional $0.75 per hour shift differential and paid meal breaks.
- Job Summary: Web Roll Tender is responsible for assisting press operators on the ManRoland Lithoman web press to produce high-quality printed materials efficiently and accurately for our clients.
- Manager/Supervisory Role: No
- Reports To: Offset Manager
- Duties/Expectations: While duties may vary from day to day, below is a list of general duties you can expect in this role.
- Assist operators in using pressroom equipment, including the ManRoland Lithoman web press
- Accurately apply job ticket information to pull stock/rolls and all materials needed for the job
- Safely operate forklift, clamp truck, electric pallet jack and other equipment to efficiently move / pull supplies
- Proficiently load the press feed with the correct stock/rolls to ensure smooth job execution
- Notify press operator of supply needs (materials, inks, etc.) and any problems or production concerns
- Maintains production and time records while consistently meeting production standards
- Reduce waste/high-cost occurrences/production errors through quality control, and report deficiencies
- Complete general housekeeping, cleans and maintains work area and presses
- Continuously work to develop skills and knowledge to become an operator
- Successfully complete all training required by the company
- Be a team player, communicate clearly and respectfully and maintain a positive attitude
- Be dependable, reliable, and consistently perform high quality work meeting company production standards
- Create a safe and hazard free work environment; follow safety protocols and report any risks
- Perform other duties as needed / assigned
- Adhere to all company and department policies and procedures
- Position Qualifications:
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ machine experience is required. Print industry and/or Roll Tender experience is highly preferred. Electric pallet jack and forklift operation experience is preferred.
- Knowledge/Skills: Basic computer and problem-solving skills, the ability to communicate effectively, plus knowledge of machine operation and quality control procedures is required. Knowledge of printing press operations or roll tender functions is highly preferred. Understanding of OSHA, LSS and/or ISO is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be of legal working age and eligible to work in the U.S.
- Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Works indoors in a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility and will be exposed to loud sounds, hazardous chemicals, and equipment on the production floor. Must have the ability to bend, lift and carry up to 40 lbs.; stand/walk on hard surfaces for extended periods; complete repetitive tasks; operate computers and/or machines (dexterity, bend, stretch, reach, climb, crouch, etc.); and communicate effectively. *Reasonable accommodations may be available upon request.
