We are looking for a fun, mature, and skilled individuals to join our team. We have openings for a technician assistant to join our Fair Oaks and Citrus Heights locations on a full or part-time permanent basis. If you are interested in the technician assistant position, we prefer that you have a desire to learn about the veterinary field and are comfortable around animals.
This is a entry level position. Overall, if you are interested in this position, you must also possess the following soft skills: motivation to learn, accountable, energetic, communication (all forms), listening, empathetic, organized, attention to detail and a friendly, positive attitude.

Technician assistant members are responsible for proper husbandry care of all hospitalized and boarded animals, including feeding, bathing, walking, record keeping and the cleanliness of cages, runs and ward areas. In addition, the technician assistant also is responsible for the cleanliness of the hospital.
- Provides compassionate care to patients.
- Can conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks.
- Can follow a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing all cages, runs, wards and related areas; changes litter boxes and food/water bowls.
- Understands the importance of prioritizing tasks and keeps oneself busy and productive at all times during work shifts.
- Can maintain laundry for the hospital.
- Maintains the grounds of the property including waste disposal, light maintenance of landscape upkeep and general building maintenance.
- Understands how contagious and zoonotic diseases can be transmitted. Understands how to disinfect the facility and grounds from potential contagious diseases.
- Cleans equipment and facilities using chemicals and supplies; understands the importance of safety of use of chemicals in our facility; understands use of different chemicals for specific purposes.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the hospital each day. Actively looks and seeks out areas to clean within the hospital without having to be told to do so.
- Understands and carries out the weekly and monthly chore list to maintain the hospital cleanliness, the equipment, and overall appearance of the hospital.
- Has the ability to communicate with owners and make them feel comfortable and confident with leaving their pet(s) in our care.
- Understands animal behavior and body language.
- Can recognize and report any unusual condition or abnormal behavior of pets.
- Can assist doctors, technicians and assistants with the administration of medications or with patient restraint.
- Can keep pet, self and others around them safe using low-stress handling techniques and recognizing animal behavior.
- Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
- Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees. Performs other duties as assigned.
