The Opportunity
We are seeking a strong Finance Specialist to support one of Meriton’s operating companies, Custom Mechanical Solutions (CMS). The role is tasked with completing general accounting functions for the business – ensuring data integrity, accuracy and timeliness of deliverables. This position interfaces directly with customers, vendors, and internal resources. This role reports directly to CMS’s local Controller and works closely with Finance personnel and affiliated staff.
Responsibilities
- General Accounting including creating and posting journal entries, account and bank reconciliations
- Maintain electronic document repository, ensuring integrity and eliminating redundancy of company records
- Serve as an asset to establish departmental infrastructure and develop internal controls
- Facilitate the A/P, A/R and billing process in conjunction with sales teams, vendors, and customers
- Assign costs to projects based on stage and completion
- Maintain banking relationships and serve as the administrator of bank accounts and payment processes
- Identify discrepancies and perform variance analysis
- Work with external and bank auditors, provide information as requested
- Coordinate report compilations and special assignments as requested for a variety of Finance-oriented stakeholders
- Ensure presentation of the company’s financial reporting is fulfilled within guidelines as directed by site Controller
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
- Familiarity with HVAC or Construction industry preferred but not required
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat; aptitude with one or more unique CRMs/project management applications preferred
- Experience in working independently while managing ongoing and one-off projects
- Heightened attention to detail; regimented organizational skills; sense of personal responsibility about quality of work
- Ability to develop and maintain attentive and collaborative relationships – customers, vendors, co-workers
- Passionate about understanding the mechanics of the business to help push forward company’s growth initiatives
- Open-minded attitude about building department infrastructure tailored to evolving business needs
- Ability to “plug in” as required to address administrative needs during busy periods or in service of departmental coverage

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate the computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
