What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Laboratory Services position at Meritus Health?
The laboratory director is responsible for the overall operations and administration of the Meritus medical laboratory, including the employment of competent personnel to perform test procedures, record and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently, and ensure compliance with the applicable regulations. Collaborates with Meritus' chief pathologist, the laboratory director will ensure Meritus Medical Laboratory meets the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) and College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation standards and provides the wide array of laboratory services to the patients served through Meritus Health, affiliated physicians, and its institutional clients.
Education - Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry required. Master of Science or relevant Business degree is preferred.
Experience - Minimum of 7 years laboratory experience and four years of laboratory supervisory experience are required, with additional technical/supervisory experience preferred. Experience in growing and expanding a laboratory is a must.
Licensure/Certification - ASCP certification as MT/MLS required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Strong knowledge of medical technology theory and practice. Knowledge of regulatory requirements including: safety, CAP, JCAHO, state and federal guidelines. Focus on workflow process and operational improvements. Skilled in implementing and communicating strategic directions and organizational vision. Excellent executive presence including strong communication skills and demonstrated ability for motivating and inspiring others to action. Ability for gaining staff confidence and trust. Ability to forge a successful interaction with peers, patients, other Meritus entities.
