The purpose of the Incoming Material Inspector position is to communicate the way material moves throughout the facility when it is brought in by customers. This position is responsible for enforcing a safe environment for employees and customers.

Essential Job Functions :
Inspect incoming material.
Communicate with the scale, customers, and operations when the material is brought into the yard.
Enforce a safe environment for employees and customers, and find the safest route for customers to maneuver around the yard.
Show customers where the proper area is to offload their material.
Communicate with the buyers to ensure the correct material is brought in.
Have customers sign waivers and record license plates through the Cognito system.
Maintain housekeeping in the area around the scale.
Use a tablet to take photos of large discrepancies or downgrades from industrial loads.
Upgrade / sort through material in the yard and put it in the proper place if needed.
Inspect cars and determine if they meet the “whole car” criteria.
Match the VIN number on the incoming cars to their titles.
Manage upgrades that come off the cars in the car prep areOversee the car prep operations and report to the Operations Manager.
Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
Able to work in a Drug-Free work environment.
Conduct routine checks, i.e. eye wash station, radiation detector, fire extinguishers, etc.
Remove all batteries and keys from scrap vehicles before end of shift.
Qualifications :
Mechanical knowledge is preferred.
Possess strong communication skills.
Basic computer / tablet skills.
Customer Service, working hands-on with customers.
Experience in a heavy industrial setting is preferred.
Maintain a positive, polite attitude.
Ability to learn multiple scrap commodities.
Capability to decipher between different types of commodities.
Self-motivated, and willing to find work during downtime.
Ability to adapt to change and operate in a fast-paced environment.
Willing and able to work outside in extreme weather temperatures. (heat or cold)
Work Hours : Hours of Operation – Monday thru Friday 7 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM.
