Job Title: Crater Supervisor

Business Unit:Meteor Crater Enterprises

Location: Meteor Crater Museum

Department: Museum Division

Reports to: Operations Manager, Vice President of Operations

Direct Reports: Line Staff

Supports operational policies and programs which guide the departments and
Financial Accountability the profitability of the operation.

Role Overview & Purpose:

Under supervision of the Operations Manager and VP of Operations, supervises and coordinates all aspects of daily operations at Meteor Crater, including customer service, admissions, facilities, cash handling and personnel. Responsible for achieving high quality, operational standards and profitability at the site. Ensures that guests receive a professional, positive and memorable experience while visiting Meteor Crater.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for opening and securely closing the Visitor Center, retail and food service operations daily.

2. Assist with oversight of staffing and supervision of the department, including scheduling and performance management, motivating and training staff.

3. Interacts directly with guests, including promptly and appropriately handling guest inquiries and complaints.

4. Oversees the internal appearance of the Visitor Center daily.

5. Ensures daily goals and objectives are accomplished.

6. Ensures goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within time constraints.

7. Supports other supervisors and takes corrective action when necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.

8. As directed, maintains inventory of supplies, materials and equipment; purchases as required and in accordance with the annual budget.

9. Use developed training materials to ensure staff are appropriately cross- trained within the departments.

10. Responsible for maintaining cash vault and cash drawers, change orders and reconciliation. Prepares daily cash deposits.

11. Ensures sales and attendance reports are updated daily.

12. Handles supervisory issues, disciplinary actions and personnel matters in accordance with company policy. Ensures all actions are consistent, timely, fair and legal.

13. Performs other duties as required.

14. Must wear complete uniforms including (name tag, earpiece).

15. Must follow all policies and procedures.

Work Environment :

Work is generally performed in both an office setting with a moderate noise level as well as museum and retail setting with higher noise levels. Some time will also be spent outside, creating exposure to natural weather conditions. Prolonged standing and walking may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.

Role Specifications & Minimum Essential
Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or GED Associates Degree preferred.
  • Current valid Arizona Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.
  • Have dependable transportation.

Knowledge & Essential Abilities:

Skills

1. Knowledge of basic human resources laws and regulations, and employee
relations skills required.

2. Knowledge of the operational aspect of a museum or attraction, including ticketing, controls and cash handling.

3. Ability to understand and follow programs, policies and procedures that ensure goals are achieved.

4. Skill in providing excellent customer service; using good judgment, being friendly.

5. Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a
Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).

6. Ability to prioritize tasks.

7. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.

8. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels while always maintaining confidentiality.

9. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

10. Basic Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.

11. Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment followed by an appropriate course of action.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
